The power went off when we were in church today.
It went off and came right back on. But I knew it would go right back off...and it did!
I want to take a flashlight to church every week now, just in case the power goes off again.
This is a blog about all of the fun Ozias is having learning during the school year and summer, even when it rains...

Discovery Bay
We spent the weekend in Discovery Bay this weekend. It was my parents' eleventh anniversary. I had a lot of fun!
We walked down to the water at the resort.
We swam in the resort pool but it was cold water.
We visited some friends of Daddy's on Sunday. I played with their kids the entire time we were there. I was having so much fun I didn't want to leave!
We went to Fort Warden today. It was a lot of fun! Daddy, Kelly, and I hiked the trails and walked through some of the gun batteries. It was raining off and on, but it was fun! We got a Junior Ranger Park Badge for doing the workbook. The Park Ranger at the desk went over the workbook with us and then awarded us the badge.

Busy Day
Today I did my reading workbook.
This afternoon, I helped Daddy and Kelly load the truck with some free wood that Mama found. I also helped unload the truck and stack the wood when we got home.
After dinner, we got to go swimming at the YMCA! The pool was a little bit colder than I like it.

Trip to the Fire Station
Kelly's Cub Scout Pack took a trip to the Fire Station today. I got to go!
I loved seeing all of the big fire engines.
The firefighters got a call, so they had to leave. The fire engines were VERY loud as they left the station.

Math Bug
Today I played Math Bug on the computer. It was a lot of fun!
I hope I will be able to play on it tomorrow, too.
I also had fun shopping with Mama, Daddy, and Kelly today.

Buoy, Oh Buoy!
Mama said that for our next experiment we needed a raw egg!
We were all worried that we would have to handle the raw egg. I didn't want it to break and get everything all messy.
Mama poured fresh water into a big glass and then added the egg. The egg went to the bottom of the glass!
Next, Mama took out the egg and added a lot of salt. She put the egg back in and it floated right to the top. It was silly.
Mama then poured out half of the salt water and slowly added some fresh water back into the glass. When she put the egg back into the glass, it sank and then raised back up to the middle.
It was fun to learn about buoyancy without having to get all messy from a raw egg!

A Short Meeting
Mama gave us each a spoon and a plastic cup. Then she had us dump some salt into the cup. Next she had us add black pepper. We had to stir up the salt and black pepper with the spoon to mix it up.
Mama added water and asked us to stir it all together but not make a mess.
After we were done, she asked us, "Where did all the salt go?"
I looked in my cup and couldn't find the salt!
Mama explained to us that the salt dissolved in the water.
We asked why the black pepper didn't dissolve and Mama told us it can't dissolve in water.
I had a lot of fun.

Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium
Today I went to the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium with Mama, Kelly, and our friends - Diane, William, and Andrew Kloepfel.
We ate lunch at a picnic table by the aquarium. It was really yummy. We had peanut butter and strawberry jelly sandwiches. We also got Lemonade Capri Suns, apple slices, and string cheese.
It was hot out and I got sweaty and tired after walking up and down all of the hills.
We saw the fish and other marine animals. We saw a couple of elephants, some lemurs, peacocks, and marakats.
We also saw a zookeeper holding Pop, a Black Albino Corn Snake. He eats one mouse a week.
I wanted to see the Red Wolves, but they are off-exhibit as their home is being rebuilt. I hope we'll be able to see them in Spring 2010 when the home is supposed to be done.
I want to go back to the zoo a lot this year.
